CWMUN Barcelona repeats the success of the previous year

The 3rd edition of CWMUN Barcelona repeat
the success of the previous year

Organised by the Singularity Foundation, St Peter’s School and the Associazione Diplomatici, CWMUN BCN brought together more than 300 students from around the world. During three days, the students adopted the role of authentic diplomats and had to defend the position of the country they represented, following the parameters and protocol of the UN. With the aim of fostering strategy, leadership, problem-solving, negotiation skills, public speaking, diplomacy and consensus skills, the CWMUN brought together young diplomats into the main organs of the UN:General Assembly, Security Councils, HUNSC and the Peace Building Commission, where some of the most polemic topics of current society were discussed.

In the General Assembly, the main theme was discussed: “Increase responsiveness of the International Community on human trafficking in the Mediterranean Sea”. At the same time, issues such as “the reform of the Iran’s Nuclear Programme Deal”, “the reform of the Security Council”, “Addressing the threat of foreign terrorist fighters in Europe”, “the Kosovo crisis in 1999” and, finally, “Rebuilding of liberated territories in Syria”. A big part of the strategy was to find allied countries, reach agreements and finally a resolution.

Despite the cultural, language and opinion differences, the young diplomats found the formula to break any barrier of communication and make the experience enriching and unforgettable.
