The St. Peter’s School University Programme Goes Global (ENG)

By Carme Escorcia, Head of Communications

As part of our University Programme, this year we have welcomed a diverse group of teacher candidates from various foreign countries including Denmark, Germany, Ireland, the United States. The goal of this initiative has always been to build bridges with international universities, to welcome new methodologies and international experts into the school so that we may examine our approach. With the new recruits, the initiative has unquestionably gone worldwide.

For the first time, we have invited a delegation of four Absalon College students from Denmark, a university that specifically prepares international teachers. Their future teaching work must be done globally, with stops in different international schools. For us, having Johanne, Mikkel, Sofie, and Karla join our school at all levels has been a pleasure.

The initial team was joined by Cecile, a German student from Berugskolleg Bleiberg Quelle; Mrs. Tara, from the University of Nottingham; Emer and Katelyn, from the University of Cork, and Estrella, from Universidad Internacional de Valencia. This week we are welcoming Moreland University‘s newest trainees, Francesco and Maria, who are eager to work with Mr. Sam and Mr. Christopher in Middle School Music and Individual and Societies classes.

Trainees have participated in pedagogical sessions where teachers shared their expertise and engaged in lively discussions about various aspects of teaching. They have been active members of our staff while completing their internship. Our staff was delighted with their insights and professional viewpoints. All of them agreed that St. Peter’s provides an excellent innovative education, with a diverse and respectful international environment.

In the coming weeks, all of our trainees will be presenting on their home campuses about the work they have done here. We eagerly anticipate their final presentations and the wealth of knowledge they will bring back to their teachers in international schools around the world.

We would like to thank our partner universities for their support in this endeavor and we look forward to continuing our fruitful collaboration in the years to come.

The Lecturer Marija Ivanovic, from Absalon, visited us back in November to coordinate the internship of the teacher’s candidates.
