Year 11 Pre-U 1 IB Diploma Programme´s 1st year
Year 12  Pre-U 2 IB Diploma Programme´s 2nd year

From 2018-19´s school year, St Peter´s School`s Pre-U students will begin to benefit from the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.

What is the IBDP?

The IBDP is a two-year educational programme that provides students an internationally accepted qualification to have access into higher education around the world. When our students reach the Pre-U stage at Year 10 in addition to the regular curriculum they will have the proper preparation for the whole International Baccalaureate Programme and methodologies to be faced at Year 11 & 12 (Pre-U 1 & 2).

During the IB DIploma programme the students will develop among other things:

  • An excellent breadth and depth of knowledge.
  • Outstanding physical, intellectual, emotional and ethical qualities.
  • To excel in traditional academic subjects
  • To explore the nature of knowledge through the programme´s unique theory of knowledge course.

The Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum has six subject groups and three core subjects; Theory of knowledge (TOK), Creativity, activity, service (CAS) and the extended essay.

By learning through experience the students at St Peter´s School will continue with the projects and competitions organised by our STEM and SCOPE departments to give them the opportunity to demonstrate their skills (First Lego League, Robocat, Videogame creation, Debate League, Philosophy Olympiad, CWMUN, MUN Cat among others).

Thought out the IBDP the students choose courses from the following subject groups: studies in language and literature; language acquisition; individuals and societies; sciences; mathematics; and the arts. They also have the option to study an additional sciences or individuals and societies, instead of a course in the arts.

Students will take some subjects at higher level (HL) and some at standard level (SL).  Each student must takes three subjects at higher level, and the remaining at standard level.

Our Students achieve university level language qualifications: they leave school with Cambridge Certificates in English, Level C in Catalan, Spanish proficiency level, DELF B2 in French and a basic level of German.

The results have been proven time and time again over the last 40 years by groups of young adults who have graduated from St. Peter’s. Today our former pupils are confident, creative adults scattered throughout the world, involved in many professions and in a variety of activities.
